a reasonably successful session getting a laptop loaded with drivers, rig control software, and digital mode software (for ft8, for psk-31 &etc, and for js8) for field operations.

The only advice I'll offer is this-no matter how many people show up, do it again. And then again. It builds. People will get hooked.

One of my clubs is having a group SOTA thing tomorrow; listen for us under our club call of AA6CV. I'd love a SOTA-to-micro QSO!

Another #µFieldDay in the books...what a beautiful day for some #portablehamradio. About 30 people came by, with 9 HF stations set up. As always, some cool antennas ideas, from N6QDI's surprisingly effective magmount on his car to NS6X's complicated but gorgeous Buddihex.

@ai6yr I've got a pair of metal sawhorses that I use to store antennas. Naturally, I'm more interested in a sawhorse dipole than all the antennas stacked on them. We'll find out at April #µFieldDay.

Quick morning walkaround, surprisingly little effects from those winds. Lots of downed trees around, but none on my street. We did end up with 4.25" rain for the day. Hell of a storm.

Exciting times for #TheBOREDNet ahead...I just acquired the domain theborednet.net (no website yet, don't worry if you don't see anything), and I'm working on hosting and a site. We've been relying on Google Docs for our weekly swap net, and it's just become too ungainly.

I'll also be able to post photos and details of future µField Day events as well. I never expected µFD to become what it has, but it has, so let's roll with it :)

After cancelling January due to mud, I've got a date and location for another µField Day this month. February 25th from 1100 to 1500 in the lot next to the RC car track at Camarillo Airport. Full announcements will go out in a week an all the local club mail lists.

(µFD ("Micro Field Day") is a monthly informal and friendly way to play around with portable ham radio. Open to all hams, from any club or area.
