The answer:

"When you think about it a minute — and look at the headlines in the news — the answer becomes apparent: as long as we’re all fighting with each other about history or gender, the 'hoarding syndrome billionaires' and their corporations are free to continue pillaging America while ripping off working people and their families."

Thom Hartmann asks,

"Why are Republicans across the nation insisting that the country’s most severe problems are teaching Black History and trans kids wanting to be recognized for who they are?"

He thinks the question can be rephrased as,

"Why are rightwing billionaires funding 'activist' groups and politicians who’re trying to end the teaching of Black History and make the lives of trans people miserable?"

Indescribably cowardly leadership from 's education department. If you're not man enough to stand in front of your decisions, you probably shouldn't be in such a position to make them.

"John C. Calhoun and his words are not a part of history...They mercilessly stalk the present, carefully cultivated reminders of a past never quite rejected, often embraced."

Judd Legum, Tesnim Zekeria, and Rebecca Crosby take a close look at the team that crafted Floria's new Black history curriculum, people hand-picked by DeSantis' administration. The report focuses on two team members: William B. Allen and Frances Presley Rice, both of whom brought a lot of right-wing baggage to the task of creating the new curriculum.

The War on CRT Was Just the Beginning

Attacks on Black intellectual thought began during slavery, when many slave states passed anti-literacy laws that banned enslaved Black people from reading and writing and made it a crime for others to teach them.

In 1831, after the infamous slave rebellion led by Nat Turner, slave states intensified their racist agenda against the acquisition of knowledge, and anti-literacy laws targeting enslaved people

DeSantis World, otherwise known as Ron DeSantis’ grip on Florida’s politics, is where people’s dreams of social justice go to die.

"The problem with all of this is that it seeks to contextualize American slavery as something other than what it was: a unique historical , perpetuated over 2½ centuries.

Slavery was practiced here on an industrial scale, based on race and the belief in ...

What happened happened. We will not move forward until we truthfully acknowledge where we’ve been."
