The strength of public plans is that they're popular with seniors, who vote at high rates. It's entirely possible that the AB govt would manage its pensions more carefully if they applied to the general public.

Anyone remember "Good-bye Charlie Brown" and ? Pension plans are very difficult to cut, even if a politician wanted to do so. Though the age of eligibility may increase as lifespans do...

"And although Taube lists some of these modern Canadian conservative values, he doesn’t say when this modern era of small “c” conservatism began. But as a speech writer for former prime minister Stephen Harper, we can all safely deduce when he believes it did. And it is at that point where I disagree with him. So too, would Harper."

There is no chance that the Tories will be more pro-vaccine, pro-CBC, anti-gun, or pro-choice than the Liberals.

There would indeed be advantages for Tories in choosing a leader from Québec; but candidates like are hard to find.

They should be grateful that the last serious contender from Québec, , lost.

@louisrcouture Not really. The PCs would only win a handful of seats in Québec in elections. The exception was when they were led by and the Liberals by a non-Quebecker. Otherwise very little support since the hanging of .

If you asked a *Toronto Star* subscriber which society is a "progressist, secular, liberal and universalist society" she'd answer that it's obviously English Canada (minus those crazy right-wingers in Alberta), not Québec.

(I must take a moment to correct for the record the claim that went to Dal; he went to and then . We all make mistakes.)

What do I think? I 'm not sure. isn't winning plaudits from me at the moment; but I'm not sure how he should have handled the , and I don't see who would be better as a replacement leader.

a) Accord de libre-échange
b) Traité sur les pluies acides
c) L'accord du Lac Meech ( a fracturé le parti avec ses tentatives à régler la question constitutionnelle)
d) Pont Samuel-De Champlain
