ACT Director of Public Prosecutions Shane Drummond has resigned due to the Sofronoff report.

I'm incredibly disappointed at the lack of awareness and reflection by Drummond and the Office of the DPP during the handling of the case. I hope this doesn't harm the chances of a retrial if there is to be one, and doesn't hurt people's views of Higgins.

Why would he bend the rules like this? Was he convinced of Lehmann being guilty and wanted to give himself the edge? I'm really confused as to why he would.
