Der knapp 3 mm kleine Brennnesselrüssler (Nedyus quadrimaculatus) beim Hofknicks. Wenn man mal Sehnsucht nach |n bekommt braucht man nur Brennnesseln abzuklopfen und voilà!

I think that this is a Larinus turbinatus, which is one of the 'true weevils'. Members of the genus can useful to humans b/c they eat the flower buds of noxious weeds.

Happy !

A few weeks ago I came across this beautiful _Polydrusus_ weevil caught in a spiderweb on a tree trunk. Normally I let nature take its course, but I felt bad for the little guy, so I freed it (after getting photos of course).

This () appeared in the trip this past week and was so curled up I thought it was a tumbling flower (). I know know why the subfamily is called ... The rostrum was completely concealed, along with half the eye.

How do most people identify weevils? Pure gestalt? From images in the Zimmerman volumes, it most resembled Amydanus, now synonymised with Ampagia.

Eichelbohrer-♀️ (Curculio glandium) fressen Löcher in unreife Eicheln und legen dort Eier ab. Die Larven entwickeln sich dort, überwintern aber im Boden. Ab Mai erscheint die neue Generation.

Kratzdistelrüssler (Larinus turbinatus) an Acker-Kratzdistel (Cirsium arvense). Er gilt als wärmeliebend. Die Larven fressen im Stengel und verpuppen sich in verblühten Distelblüten. 21.08.22

Der Gewöhnliche Weiden-Kätzchenrüssler (Dorytomus melanophthalmus) lebt an und von Weidenarten (Salix sp.) und ist daher meist eher in feuchteren Biotopen zu finden.
