- the word "transgender" (fingers close towards heart; a loan from ASL)
- the PAM (C-hand moves downwards; lexicalised from "person")
- hold the PAM in signspace to use it as a quotation / demonstrative, inflected for animacy (otherwise it would be the simple demonstrative with a pointing index finger)
- point to the PAM with the other hand and flow to the verb for MEAN (index finger taps twice on thumb)
- the whole thing with interrogative prosody (via facial expression)

then it continues with WHY (fist shakes, nails towards camera); SOMETIMES (two palms up, hands move alternately); TRANS; NONBINARY (both middle fingers tap palms, then palms chop forward), and more stuff I can't follow.

failing to understand examples 2a/2b until I gave up and moved to 3 and realised that PAM in "PAUL³ª PAM³ᵇ MARIA³ᵇ KNOW" here, PAM is the Personal Agreement Marker and not like, Paul knows Maria and Pam.
