What's this kind of screw called, and how's it used? It came with a surface-mount electrical junction box so I'm guessing that it's for hammering first, and tightening after – though the thread seems to be more of a friction grabber than a screw thread – not deep enough to catch timber framing. The point is sharper than most nails I've encountered.

Question for electricians etc - is there any such thing as a remote-resettable RCD? We have an external gas water heater plugged into an RCD outside the house. When the power goes off, it trips, and it's very hard to get at. Any good solutions?

I used to work in wind turbines some years ago.

You need cables to bring the power down from the generator, and you need the turbine to spin to face the wind, so sometimes it ends up spinning too far in one direction and you needed to unwind it manually.

That's what I was doing here.
