Going to use this thread to keep track of my top books of 2023 as I go. Not sure if this counts since the translation was already out 2021/2 elsewhere, but my edition at least was 2023 - Tomb of Sand by #GeetanjaliShree (translated by Daisy Rockwell).

I'm #NowReading Tomb of Sand by #GeetanjaliShree and had to stop to google a bunch of names/titles of Partition authors. Now I have books from #KrishnaSobti and #Manto on the way. That's how #TranslatedFiction gets ya! #bookstodon #LiteratureInTranslation

Couldn't decide if I should move right on to book #2 after completing my reread of #NKJemisin's The City We Became, to avoid the risk of forgetting things again. But then I opened up #GeetanjaliShree's Tomb of Sand (found via toots of translator @shreedaisy) and was immediately hooked by the first page, so I guess my #NowReading is decided! Already getting a somewhat similar feeling as when I read #OlgaTokarczuk's The Books of Jacob, one of my top books of 2022. #bookstodon

Got a few book pre-orders in so I can forget about them and be surprised when they arrive. Usually most of my pre-orders are of fave authors, but these are all new to me. Any other #bookstodon folks have these on their list? Have other pre-order recommendations?
