Next to Easby Abbey near Richmond in North Yorkshire, stands the 12th century church dedicated to St Agatha.
During 19th century restoration, a number of rare mid 13th century wall paintings were discovered.
At some point in the past, they had become hidden and forgotten after being painted over.
The unique paintings were later delicately restored.
They illustrate a number of subjects, the two featured here, inspired by the events of Good Friday.

The first time since 2019, a Sunderland Easter weekend tradition was today back underway, with a huge turnout on the city's Tunstall Hill.
The popular annual Good Friday Act of Witness, which brings together people from parish communities across the city and beyond, was initially cancelled after the first lockdown was announced at the start of the Covid pandemic in 2020.
