Bear Lake in . My wife's birthday is today, she and a daughter wanted to do a hike up in the mountains. They started here. I was the chauffeur and then got to wander around with my camera while they hiked.

Semi related > Afternoon traffic in Denver Sucks. I’m still grumpy about the drive back.

Despite all of our VR and drone technology etc we cannot truly capture the experience of “being there”. I had one such experience recently at Crater Lake in Oregon.

It is a lake in the caldera of a volcano that erupted approx: 7700 years ago. It is 5 miles by 6 miles across. The lake is up to 2000 feet deep. The water is so gloriously blue. My pics don’t do it justice, even the stitched panoramic one.

It is a must see place. Happy 4th of July.

One year ago we visited Yosemite for the first time. On our last day, we got up early to watch the sun rise and drank our coffee on the boardwalk. Magic!

Roaring Run Furnace, an iron furnace built in 1832, now located in the Jefferson National Forest near Eagle Rock, Virginia. Nearby is Roaring Run Creek and Falls. These are early digital pics (mid-90s)with Photoshop art filters applied.
