Watched #NightmareAlley last night. I thought it was fairly good. It was a noir type movie.

It had an all star cast and was directed Guillermo Del Toro. Bradley Cooper, Toni Collette, Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara are in it.

150 minuti di cui la prima metà puramente decorativa e riempitiva perché a Del Toro chiaramente piace il circo e quel che poteva durare cinque minuti lo fa durare venti volte tanto al puro scopo di mostrare belle scenografie, costumi e tutto il razzle-dazzle. Mah. #nightmarealley

Io dopo aver visto “Pinocchio”: “Wow questo Guillermo del Toro è davvero interessante, ora capisco perché è così stimato e famoso! Voglio recuperare la sua filmografia in ordine anticronologico”.

Io dopo aver visto “#NightmareAlley”: “Mi sa che ho cambiato idea”.

Ma la dissolvenza in nero a cerchio che si stringe sul soggetto principale è una caratterista tipica e/o storica del cinema messicano? Vedo che la usa Del Toro come pure Cuarón, Iñárritu e altri connazionali. #nightmarealley

A quanto pare la pioggia, le carrellate con la cinepresa che fa la chicane fra cose e persone in movimento e i contrasti cromatici fra primari e complementari (in particolare rosso/verde e blu/arancione) fanno parte del linguaggio visivo ricorrente di Del Toro. #nightmarealley

Prosegue il mio viaggio a ritroso nella filmografia di Guillermo del Toro: dopo il suo splendido “Pinocchio”, stasera guardo “#NightmareAlley”.

I finally got around to watching Guillermo Del Toro's movie Nightmare Alley, and honestly surprised like Martin Scorsese, why this film didn't get the kudos it deserved. ⭐⭐⭐⭐
