and ... it's a bit slow paced for my liking. Stuff has happened but I'm on chapter 14 and the story still hasn't got going yet. The main character wants to be trained by a sorcerer who refuses to teach her. But she keeps going to him to be refused.

I don't know how many times I need to read the same thing.

Also she can turn into animals and it feels a little bit like young adult . As far as I know it's a book for adults.

But on one of the pages the characters are asking about Diti, who isn't present.

Then suddenly there are a couple of mentions of Diti as if she's present, and (unless there's some other reason I'm missing) it's basically typos where 'Diti' was written instead of 'Binta'

And I wonder: How many people proofread this but didn't spot it?

I've been inducted into the Daily Illini Hall of Fame. 😀!!

The Daily Illini is the independent student newspaper of the University of Illinois (U-C), my alma mater, and it's the first publication my voice was ever published in.

The awards ceremony was the day after the Writers of the Future awards ceremony in LA, so I couldn't be there. But I recorded my little speech outside the WoF ceremony, heh.

Finished the Binti trilogy by Nnedi Okorafor. It was an incredible journey! I am grateful to my friend who recommended this trilogy.
