There is a lot of crap said about maths.

Confusion arises because no distinction is made between learn-by-rote habituated social skills which keep society functioning but are mindless (numeracy) and practice at a more conscious, analytical, critical, empowered and accountable level (maths).

Actually, maths is rarely accountable to society for unethical, harmful practice. It should be.

Citizens need better numeracy skills to keep maths ethical.
