I had to re-string all of the tent poles with new shock cord -- I don't recall ever storing this tent out in the sun, but practically *all* of the shock cord was super brittle; maybe years in storage has the same effect -- but after that... she still stands! Ye old #REI Half Dome 2.

IIRC, my brother and I used this two-person tent during our #Philmont expedition with #BSA back in 2006 (703 A6 Troop 513). Or maybe it was for earlier or later trips we took as a troop? I may spend some money to get a lighter single-person tent, but I also figure I should try a few weekend trips around town (maybe #EnchantedRock) with this one first.

I already feel better after just pitching a tent in the backyard. But I figure that might just be false excitement or something. But if I still have the itch after a few weekenders around town (preferably with some cold and rainy weather to make things realistic)... then I'm pretty sure I'm gonna spend the better part of this year on the #AppalachianTrail.
