For the last week's count for #ProjectFeederWatch everyone stopped by to visit! We had 26 species and 64 individuals this time. Data can be seen here:
https://feederwatch.org/pfw/count/summary?id=S135169158&s=1
A special treat was two Brown Thrashers stopping by for a snack and then spending the afternoon singing in the treetops! This concludes the season. In the past 4 seasons this site has recorded 37 different species. My vote for "most elegant" was this Mocking Bird posing for me.

Just recorded the data for Week 25 of #ProjectFeederWatch #today. This is the penultimate counting week for this year. Just as well, because #gardening duties are taking most of my attention right now. #birds data can be viewed here:

No Hawks this week and the Juncos are starting to disappear. Next week will be last reporting for this season. Here is my local house sparrow enjoying the sunflower seeds.

Just entered data here:
https://feederwatch.org/pfw/count/summary?id=S133535363&s=1
for #ProjectFeederWatch , week 24. Only two more weeks to the end of the season. We had 21 species and 68 individuals this week with no hawks observed. A little surprised that the Dark-Eyed Juncos are still the most numerous birds visiting the feeding site. We are seeing fewer birds at the feeders as their attentions are turned elsewhere and the weather continues to warm up. 83 degrees F (28

We had 23 species and 75 individuals visit this week. The Cooper's Hawk is still hunting in the area, but we did not observe any depredation this week. Pictured is one of our most frequent visitors over the season, a male House Finch. Only three more weeks to go before the season ends for the year.

We had 24 species and 88 individuals seen this week, and the Cooper's Hawk nabbed a starling off the feeder. Some of our winter visitors are thinning out now and the summer birds are coming back. Only a few more weeks left in the count season for the year!

We had 22 species and 79 individuals this week. Not so many as usual, but I guess the birds are busy establishing territories, etc. Just a few more weeks to go before the season ends for the year!

We saw 20 species and 80 individuals this week. Numbers are down primarily because the Starlings have murmered off elsewhere. Had fun watching the Blue Jays "comparison shopping" the peanuts. They never take the first one they pick up. I even saw one BRING ONE BACK to swap for a different one.

Looks like the finch pop. has crashed as numbers recorded are only about 20% of what they had been. Don't know if it is the result of the polar weather last month or what. We had 20 species and 94 individuals in the count this week. I'm trying out my new camera so here's a picture of a cardinal on one of my feeders from earlier today. Also what I think is a Hairy Woodpecker.

We had 20 species and 84 individuals this week. Somewhat down from the usual numbers, but the removal of some neighboring trees and hedges have the birds edgy right now. Also the Cooper's hawk is back. Have a good week everyone.

A sad day here. The developers have taken over the adjacent property formerly owned by my Uncle who died 2 years ago. They've taken down all the trees and are planning to squeeze a new house onto a very small lot. I remember helping to plant these trees about 65 years ago. They provided lots of cover for birds and other wildlife. My birdfeeder counts will certainly take a hit after this. It's a mercy that it was done before the nesting season.

We had 17 species and 109 individuals this week. Sadly, the Carolina Wrens and Flickers did not turn up this week. Another week with no raptor depredation observed, also. Photo shows how the local Gray Squirrels vandalize the feeders. Hope everyone has a good week!

Week 13 of Project Feeder Watch is now complete. We're now half way through the season. This week we had 19 species and 124 individuals. Did not see any raptor activity this week. They may have moved on for a while. Snow coming down here right now, we'll see what next week brings. Image shows one of the places where I leave peanut butter for my birds. Carolina Wrens and Downy Woodpeckers love this spot.

Here's Week 12 of the Project Feeder Watch bird counts. We had 20 species and 106 individuals this week. For the first time in a while, we had no observed hawk depredation, although I know they are still actively hunting in the area. Here's a photo of what all the local woodpeckers are doing to one of my old apple trees. (It doesn't seem to mind.)

We had 20 species and 124 individuals this week. Lots of interest from the local hawk population, too. We lost some Mourning Doves and Dark-Eyed Juncos to depredation.
Picture shows what I think is a Red Shouldered Hawk all puffed up against the bitter cold and looking like a basketball! He's waiting for me to leave.
