Where sand and sea meet

Due to the very cold Benguela Current, there is so little moisture evaporating that there is next to no cloud generation. Only some fog extends into the land. This fog also makes the coast very dangerous for shipping. So, it is also called Skeleton Coast from all the shipwrecks and sailors who did not survive.

Just south of the coastal town of Walvis Bay are shallow ponds and sandy coasts. Here, there is a large population of flamingo.
