@feditips In parallel with #joinin some of us will also be importing from the birdsite the tradition, slightly lapsed, of a New Year's eve cyberparty called, in honour of its new location, #Tootenanny - under that #hashtag we will be sharing some favourite tunes, hopes for the future and maybe even some #cybersnacks.

I'm officially growing to love #Mastodon and not just because of #Johnmastodon or the prospect of a proper #Tootenanny on New Years Eve. The thing I can't say enough though is that #Mastodon isn't the #AntiTwitter - it existed before Musk acquired the birdsite, and it was a good thing from the start, with the idea of federated technology making it a challenge not just to socmed like the birdsite but also a tool to challenge the likes of Yammer and slack.
