another famous war invalid was Carlo Delcroix who lost his sight and his arms following the clearance of the shooting range in 1917 while training the Alpine soldiers. He subsequently gave 35 propaganda speeches throughout Italy and after the war the Fascist regime used it further. After the fall of the regime, his prostheses were seized as objects deriving from fascism (!) and he died in Rome in 1977

when I find lead balls of shrapnel I think about of relationships described in the book "Surgical Hospital of the City of Milan" which underlines danger of these bullets as they remain in human body dragging dirt and other foreign bodies. Gangrene could be deadly
