Was wondering where I took this photo. Oh, where I go #swimming just north of the #NorthRiverWastewaterResourceRecoveryFacility (WRRF).
On Saturday, a day before the big storms after the #BillionOysterProject #SummerOnTheHudson #OpenHouse on the #Baylander. I was in at 4:21. More ebb current than I expected.

This is a bit late for #WildFlowerHourNYC but its all I have. I'm very consumed with taking photos of trash and illegally parked cars.

May not be wild. I think this is from a bulb. But who knows. No one has weighted in. Next to the Riverbank State Park aquatics building.in #NYC. #WildFlowerHourNYC

Does anyone know how the tagging function works. I've got a column that was originally just tagged with #bikeNYC and I added #WildFlowerHourNYC and #pawPaw and I know I've messed it up. There are three categories and I don't know what they mean. Any of these, All of these, None of these. Actually the latter makes some sense. Maybe an logical expression would help. Time for #Fedihelp.

I wasn’t prolific this week. But I managed to catch a few azaleas around town. #nyc #Barnard college campus

Having trouble posting. Drat!
Will keep trying. Meanwhile, please, I want to see YOUR photos.
#WildflowerHourNYC Belated entry…
Okay… I confess, these blooms are all non-native (but perennial I think) #NYC parks plantings… still, they are a pretty prelude to spring.
#iNaturalist friends, please tell me which Daffodil varietal with the frangible-frilly petals I’ve got.
A wall of Buttercups
Plus some purple dead nettle
And grape hyacinths
… planted, invasive, but still signs of spring…

Daffodils speckle the edge of Isham park with a still barren Japanese zelkova on an elevated park with a century old , schist block 4foot retaining wall keeping the soil off Broadway— the fire hydrant and street scape belying that this is a #nyc street scape.

Looks like witches brooms to me. Need to identify the host tree species, and details of rhe growth. Look for fallen branches beneath it after all these high winds! @stevenbodzin

Daffodils in flower outside 24th precinct on 100th in UWS on Monday. Granted it's south facing.
#WildflowerHourNYC Not wild obviously.
This shelter at the park has a lovely mossy roof!
I was told that somebody I know proposed to his wife here. Of course she said yes and they are still married.
Of course there was moss, especially around the vernal (or ephemeral, if you prefer the newer term, but it's March 1 so these are vernal) ponds at Blue Heron Park.
This morning, waiting for the bus to go to our Bird & Nature walk, I saw the maple tree budding.
This is the same tree I observed in 2021 as it was budding and leafing out throughout the season: https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/76306902
This hardy plant grows on top of the low stone walls of the Irish Hunger Memorial. Some kind of Sedum. (I need to upload it to iNaturalist and find out exactly what.)
To lead off, I was at the Irish Hunger Memorial in lower Manhattan last week and saw some plants emerging. Snowdrops! What better name for a flower that shows itself in early Spring (or not-quite-Spring) when there is still a chance of snow?

I've been seeing errors in my primary Mastodon account this afternoon & evening. (Did Musk do something? Are we getting another migration?) So I'll be posting from my Writing Exchange account this #WildflowerHourNYC.
Bring us your plants!
Bring us your buds & leaves & tiny green seedlings. Bring us your flowers, wild & feral, planted & cultivated. Bring us your street trees & weeds poking through cracks in the sidewalk. Bring us mosses & lichens & toadstools.
Bring us all the brave green things poking through the soil as Spring approaches.
#WildflowerHourNYC is Wednesday at 8:00 pm ET. Bring your plant photos or just browse, like a walk in the park.
I'm from NYC but the plant is not.

How warm was it Thursday in Clove Lakes Park? We saw literal HEAPS of turtles. They're cold-blooded and typically bury themselves in mud during the Winter, but it was warm enough for them to come out--and for us to remove our jackets. (But clouds rolled in toward the end of our walk and the temperature dropped a bit.)
