‘Gateway to bright future open’: #Agreement25 day three:
Taoiseach Varadkar and Prime Minister Sunak cited David Trimble’s Nobel Prize speech:
“The dark shadow we seem to see in the distance is... the shadow of the mountain behind... It is a dark sludge of historical sectarianism. We can leave it behind us if we wish.”

‘This is home for everybody’: #Agreement25 day two:
"It is the home for everybody whether a united Ireland is something they want, or whether it’s something they’re indifferent to, or whether it’s something that they don’t want. It will still be their home and we have to learn to accommodate each other in Northern Ireland…"

It's a big day at the @QUBelfast #Agreement25 conference here in Belfast - with @RishiSunak due to say it is time to fulfil the "true promise" of the Good Friday Agreement. Really interesting evening @QFTBelfast reflecting on role & experiences of the media at #Agreement25. Great to see lots of familiar faces - ex hacks, ex communications directors etc. Felt like there was enough material in there for a 3 day conference!
Watching the #Agreement25 panels. Currently, Congressman Richard Neal of the US is speaking (not sure why), but you can sure see the difference between him and the European leaders that have been on the panels.
The way he sits, speaks, acts, is completely different. So arrogant.

Watching the #Agreement25 panels. I am having a rough time understanding some of the panelists. The Irish accents get the best of me at times, but they are so beautiful!

Senator George Mitchell received a lot of ovations today in Belfast. All deserved.
Typically, he directed the plaudits to others: ‘Without John Hume there would have been no peace process; without David Trimble there would have been no peace agreement.’

This was likely, given his health and 89 years, George Mitchell's final sharing of personal memories of a place he holds close to his heart, and he delivered a “masterclass in how to lead and understand people”.
