UPDATE: All but one of the 18 horses surrendered from a farm in #Alford late last year have been adopted!

The horses were part of an animal cruelty investigation. Their surrender was the single largest surrender of horses to the MSPCA in the last five years.

In the distance is the Bennachie peak called Mither Tap (Hill of the Breast).

Mither Tap has an Iron Age hill fort on its summit and has brilliant views in all directions.

The recumbent, 53 tons of sillimanite gneiss, is the largest known. It's 4.9m x 2.1m x 2m and was brought from about 10km away. This is one of my favourite sites, it's beautiful, impressive, and there are some really great trees.

UPDATE: It's been one week since the surrendered #Alford horses arrived at our Nevins Farm -- and we're sharing the latest on their health, and their next steps on the road toward adoption.

All of the initial health exams have been completed. Next up: farrier service, dental cleanings and hoof trims. Several horses are still recovering from respiratory infections--but they're progressing well. 1/
