5/10 #Mynolia – #AllThingsHeavy – People grooving to #WeyesBlood this year will probably enjoy Mynolia as well. She’s Berlin-based and has a sparse guitar-drums-vocal vibe that bridges folk and moody alt-rock. Find her on #Bandcamp.

#NewReleases This Week: #Mynolia – #AllThingsHeavy. This Berlin-based Kiwi-Canuck lets a humbucker guitar and sparse drums anchor songs that pull you down dark roads into places you may regret visiting but are compelled to travel. The title track went on my pop playlist and “An Old Disguise” went on folk. The blurbs say Mynolia is like Feist, but I’m reminded of earlier alt-folk – say, Margo Timmins fronting Mazzy Star.
