The Most Distant Galactic Field Lines Ever Seen

Galaxies are surrounded by magnetic field lines, spanning tens of thousands of light-years. These magnetic fields have previously been measured surrounding only the closest galaxies. Still, astronomers have made the map of a galaxy seen just a few billion years after the Big Bang. Astronomers discovered with ALMA, searching dust grains in the galaxy that align with the nearby magnetic fields. The light they emit becomes polarized, which can then be turned into magnetic field maps.

El «eslabón perdido» para el agua del sistema solar https://lasendadeapolo.es/2023/03/25/8202/ Utilizando el Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA) desde Chile, un equipo de investigación ha detectado agua en estado gaseoso en el disco de formación planetaria que rodea a la estrella V883 Orionis.

Esta molécula lleva una firma química que explicaría el viaje del agua desde las nubes de gas de formación estelar hasta los planetas, apoyando la idea de que el agua de la Tierra es incluso más antigua que nuestro Sol.

Ahora es posible rastrear los orígenes del agua de nuestro sistema solar hasta antes de que se formara el Sol afirman los autores del estudio publicado en la revista Nature.

Este descubrimiento se realizó mientras se estudiaba la composición del agua presente en V883 Orionis, un disco de formación planetaria situado a unos 1300 años luz de distancia de la Tierra. Cuando una nube de gas y polvo colapsa, forma una estrella en su centro. Alrededor de la estrella, el material de la nube también forma un disco.

We had an incredibly fun science week with @luca_astro at the #ALMA Large Program in Trinity College Dublin🍺⛰️🌦️A wonderful group of people as well as great scientists - ready to do exocometary science with these amazing new debris disk data! 👩‍🏫👨‍🏫🔭☄️

Another great ALMA image: a group of researchers led by ProfessorXX studied the triple system IRAS 04239+2436 on the radio signals of sulfur monoxide (SO) and studied the arms generated in that kind of interaction, and compared them with simulations, and the agreement was fantastic.

Según la #ciencia, existen cinco tipos de #fatiga que pueden afectar la #salud general de cualquier persona que los padezca.
