The mother was not unknown.

She was the lady Walter eloped with (travelling separately) to Canada.

Sadly the lady died in Canada but later she became his sister in law.

The child was brought up by father and aunt.

@geneapleau I would participate with #Genchat more if the timing wasn't such a difficult time for me. However, I appreciate that time zones mean it is impossible to time things to suit everyone. I do try to follow along afterwards when I can although perhaps not so much lately! Will try harder!.

Well, crap. #AncestryHour is temporarily suspended over on bluebird due to all the changes, including Tweetdeck being messed with and going behind the paywall in 30 days. Between that & the tweet limit, I’m concerned with #genchat ‘s future over there (where it was born!). I’m so glad we established a presence here on Mastodon months ago!
