Quick penguin faux linocut for today.
Today, in lieu of penguins, please enjoy this charcoal dog.

Good morning or whichever time of day it is where you are!
Here's another penguin, this time digital with some texture. Something's been driving me to paint more penguins lately. Perhaps an unknown telepathic force, or a subliminal signal sent through social media. Or maybe they're just cute. However, I'd like to give my warmest wishes, respect, and love to our future penguin overlords.🐧
And back to traditional! This is gouache on toned paper. Painting penguins is quite addictive, the next one is already in the making.
On a side note, I'll be on a business trip for most of next week. I have no idea if I'll be able to post (possibly), let alone draw or paint (most likely not, 14-hour days ahead), so if I manage to create enough material in advance, you'll hear from me. If you don't, don't send the cavalry just yet. See ya!

Here's another digital digital oil painting. This still has a distinct digital feel about it. I'm not sure yet if this is what I'll be going with. Infinite Painter is a tough one when it comes to making stuff look traditional, but I love being able to paint on the couch, so more tweaking it is.

Here's something that didn't work out at all, but I thought I'd share. I love monoprinting but don't have a press. It also looks like either I don't have enough strength to properly transfer a print by hand, or I'm using the wrong paint.
This alpaca was doomed to fail because the watermixable oil paint I used was sticky as catsh*t. TBF, the transfers weren't perfect even when I first opened the tube a few months ago.
Any suggestions on which paints transfer easily?
Infinity Painter's oil and acrylics brushes have been giving me a headache. I'm currently trying to tweak them and find out how to get the messy, yet cohesive and textured look I'm aiming for. Judging by this cow painting, I'm maybe 60-70% there.
Just a quick watercolour penguin today (I cannot NOT read this as "pengling" in my mind, thanks Mr. Cumberbatch). But back on topic, I should definitely have used watercolour paper for this watercolour painting, no idea why I picked the sketch pad for this. More pengwings will follow, though, they're fun.

A charcoal horse for the Animal A Day self challenge. This looks a bit cartoony because of the outlines. That's what you get for being lazy about shading.

Today's drawing for my Animal A Day self challenge. Watch me try not to go into too much detail. Next up probably charcoal, we'll see how loose that gets.

First doggo in the Animal A Day challenge. Mixed media (mostly watercolour and gouache) on paper.

Don't blame me, this was asked for. Here's a charcoal snostrich. Also, since I really like this one, it counts towards my "Animal A Day" challenge. One bird and one snail with a stone, so to say.

Coinciding with the start of a new year, I've decided to challenge myself, and with any luck, you'll be the ones benefitting, LOL. I've decided to try and draw/paint one animal each day, for as long as I can keep it going.
There will be cats and dogs, wildlife, perhaps fish. There will be charcoal, watercolour, pastels, ink, perhaps acrylics if I find the time. Since I veer towards a very literal style, I'm trying to loosen up in the process.
Feel invited to follow.
