I was looking at the prices of #bassguitars today, and I am honestly stunned at how expensive they have got. $2500 USD and up street price for a new Ernie Ball Music Man StingRay. $1900 for a Fender American Professional II Jazz Bass V.

The last time I bought a bass was about 20 years ago. I paid $1000 for my StingRay in excellent condition, used. I paid about $1600 for my Warwick Custom Shop Corvette Proline, made to order for me. In 2002, I bought an NOS 1995 StingRay for about $1200.

Current project: a little bit of TLC on this Westone Thunder 1 bass which I’ve had for about 35 years now. Japanese made in the Matsumoku factory, this one was built in 1984 and is the passive version, with an ash, maple and walnut body, and a rosewood fingerboard. It’s all original, apart possibly from the nut, although I’m not sure about that - I certainly haven’t changed it.
