The #BigButterflyCount may have finished yesterday but no-one told the butterflies; #HollyBlue, #SpeckledWood, #Gatekeeper and many #LargeWhites today. And then this afternoon I narrowly avoided standing on two magnificent #ElephantHawkMoth caterpillars. (Now relocated to a new safer patch of willowherb where I promptly found a 3rd even larger #caterpillar and, I think, a caterpillar poo!)

Remembered the #bigbutterflycount 2023 on the last day, but still enjoyed our 15 minutes in the sunshine. 3 stories logged, same as last year.

Last day of #bigbutterflycount and saw 27 Holly blue, 15 large white, 8 small white, 8 gatekeepers, 2 red admirals , 1 meadow brown... and a grasshopper in the pear tree.

Managed to get another #BigButterflyCount in during a dry spell and it was dominated by the aerial acrobatics of Large Whites dancing with potential mates. Even managed to get some shots of a successful pairing #macrophotography #savebutterflies

Sat in the garden doing a #BigButterflyCount (UK citizen science project) and a Ringlet has joined the 10 Gatekeeper in the border, while 3 Red Admiral, 1 Green-veined White, 4 Peacock, 3 Small White & 7 Large White nectar above ... #norfolk

today was a #bugs and birds day in the garden! i've been taking part in the #bigbutterflycount so it was great to see three species today - a red admiral, meadow brown, and a large white butterfly (which flew too quickly to get a decent picture of!) i also spotted a #forficula #earwig and a load of #bumblebees enjoying the clovers in the sun ☀️
