In my #BotC #DIY Grimoire I've managed to closely match the size and feel of the #BloodOnTheClocktower official character tokens.

* 1mm “greyboard” (also named “chipboard” by some vendors) card base layer.

* Adhesive-backed 100gsm gloss paper, printed with the front design.

* Adhesive-backed 1.5mm black felt, for the rear backing.

* Strong sharp scissors, to carefully cut each circular token.

Board game crafting attempt number 2: it's still not 100% perfect, but these custom #BloodOnTheClocktower tokens I made for Steward, High Priestess, and Harpy are now much closer in color to the originals than my first attempt. And they still feel the same in the bag. I'm calling it a win!

The question of "why felt?" in the #BloodOnTheClocktower components, gets discussed a lot by people when they begin investigating a #DIY set.

The design of the game, using felt-backed tokens in a felt-lined Grimoire box, is another significant reason why I (and the game designers) assert this cannot feasibly be a Print-and-Play game. Not even with lots of printable documents like at https://diy.bloodontheclocktower.rocks/

So, why is felt so important? And what felt should we use when making our own?

Taking the opportunity to answer some questions that were asked in private (thank you!).

First up: Why do I not consider my #BotC #BloodOnTheClocktower #DIY resources at https://diy.bloodontheclocktower.rocks/ to be "Print-and-Play"?

Because the game makers have declared, and I agree with the reasoning, that this is not a game that can be feasibly Print-and-Play.

At best, it's "print some things and assemble specialist materials and equipment and then maybe *build* it all, and *then* play". So, not PnP.

Two games of #BloodOnTheClocktower , two Good wins, two games where I was the recluse. Next time I'd like to play a role that gets to do something 😅

Just ran my group's first game of Sects and Violets, and had a fun moment where the Ceranovus made a player mad as the Mutant, who then double-claimed the real Mutant, causing the real Mutant to call them out and get executed for claiming outsider. Our first exposure to madness was not boring! #BloodOnTheClocktower #botc

Gotta say, not loving the change in the Thursday character reveal streams. Too long, too late in the night, too tired the day after.

Fun thing I’ve noticed looking through my #BloodOnTheClocktower game stats: in the Trouble Brewing games I’ve played/Storytold, the Drunk Monk has never lost. 5/5 wins.

This sounds funny, until you realize that the Monk is one of the only characters where the Drunk will either have no effect or an effect that is obvious to the Drunk player. So it makes sense that this would be a high-performing character, since it means other characters that might have a bigger/more subtle impact aren’t Drunk.
