Currently watching the Finnish cop show #Bordertown on Netflix. It's good if you're into that sort of thing, but beware that it's a) pretty dark and disturbing, and b) Finnish, meaning pretty much everyone is a stoic introvert.

However, they balance out the grim with some heartwarming and lighthearted moments, which is something all too many shows forget.

So after one of you fine #Mastodonians mentioned #Bordertown me & a pal spent two days binge watching Finnish #NordicNoir it's the reliable trope of the #Autistic detective solving orrible murders but instead of being an aloof loner, he is a loving (& loved) family man. His autism is subtle but there. What is more clear is his warmth for & connection to others. Given that it's set on the Finnish/ Russia border & with horrific crimes & an obsession with gray, white & black it still exudes a sweetness.

I wanted to put this out there because it's a tiny step in better representation for #Autistic people. Still so much more to do.

I regret loaning out my complete set of Bordertown books years ago.
I wonder if anyone ever made a Tater and Bert fanfic.

ToonrificTariq looks at some #AnimationDomination shows that didnt live long. Some were.. too much.. in some ways. Some were not enough in others. And some may not have gotten enough attention.

I remember enjoying the #NapoleonDynomite. And #SitDownShutUp had some good moments. Kenan was great in that. I never heard that much about #BlessTheHarts. Was it that good?

Since I need to learn #Finnish and I love police procedural and Scandinavian crime fiction I decided to try to watch some Finnish cop shows in Finnish with subtitles. A little research suggested #Bordertown which is on Netflix.

So far I’m up to the third episode of the first mystery (Dollhouse) which is a story of sex trafficking between Russia and Finland involving the daughter of an FSB agent (how stupid would you have to be to pick such a victim?).

I mostly used #twitter as a newsfeed; I rarely posted. It was not my community. So if I am a refugee, it's from old #LiveJournal, and from #GEnie’s #SFRT, the place where I really discovered #onlinecommunities back in the ‘90s. There’s still been nothing like it. Like #Bordertown. You had to be there, then.
