Taco Quetzalcoatl was Salisbury's supposed success story, being written up (glowingly) in the New York Times. But the truth was, this small, quirky, family-run business was flaky. Fabulous food one night - frozen veg laden food the next night. I'd love the food there one visit, then take friends and be terribly disappointed.

Then they opened a second location - a huge place in Unley. I wondered how their haphazard business model would translate. It didn't. First they closed the Salisbury location, and now I see Unley closed last year too. No doubt COVID had an impact, but I suspect it may have happened anyway.

It was a place with such potential. When the place was firing, it was really good. But it seems they couldn't even get purchasing and prep right.

Over the years I have seen the second-location demise of many fabulous small places. Cikolatte was another - remember them? Just like Taco Q, it was predictable.
