Hey Atlanta & GA, did you know that George Washington Carver Park at Lake Allatoona was established in 1950 as the first “Georgia State Park for Negroes.” Apparently it was quite popular, lots of history. It is still open to the public and managed by Bartow County.
Today I observed Juneteenth by riding up there. I was disappointed, but not surprised, to find the gate closed. This place should be hopping on days like today.

It’s another beautiful spring day so I rode the scooter up to Cartersville and hung up the first flyer at a little cafe up here. This place is pretty cool, a little hidden gem in the back of a gourmet olive oil bar off of Main Street.
