One could say that the entire Seder plate is a set of edible props for telling a story of memory and liberation. Many of us have ways of enhancing the Seder with additional props of our own - children’s crafts, finger puppets, extra readings, etc… Me? I’m bringing the frog socks. #ItsAllAboutTheSocks. At our seder, #Passover is about social justice, human rights throughout history. Religious, cultural, linguistic freedom. Freedom to express sexuality, gender identity. The upcoming Torah portion, Tetzaveh, includes instructions to have an eternal light. What a time of contrasts. We have Purim coming up which marks a dark time where Haman, the arch villain of arch villains, plotted the destruction of all the Jews and then, spoiler alert/plot twist, he suffers the fate he was planning for us.
