Finished another . This time Anniversary (2007) on

This game holds up really well, for a 15 year old game! Some parts actually look quite beautiful.

Like all TR games, it's at its best doing actual Tomb Raiding, and not so good with combat. Luckily, there's not much of the latter and plenty of the former. Interesting puzzles and challenging traversal, only the final few levels felt ill-designed.

It's 76p in the , a real bargain!

Next is Tomb Raider Anniversary, a remake from 2007.

It occurred to me when playing this, that is getting harder to define.

Somewhere around the Xbox 360 era, game devs solved most gaming unknowns. Control questions were fixed, graphics became acceptable, level design improved. There were fewer quantum leaps.

You can happily play 2007 games today in a way you couldn't play games from 1985 in 2000. You can play old games because they're good, not just for nostalgia.

Always loved the anti-piracy wheel from the Monkey Island games. Put my own "spin" on it with the characters from Azazel's Christmas Fable! Does it serve any real purpose? No. Did I have a blast making it? Absolutely!
