A favorite Hungarian Christmas tradition is hanging Christmas candy, or 'szaloncukor' on the tree as decoration. Every family has their own rules when the candy can be eaten. In my family we'd eat the candy throughout the season, leave and shape the candy wrapper back into its original form, so you can trick the next person into thinking there's a candy in it! Who else has a holiday tradition that involves embarrassing stories?

My niece, who is a doctor, still is subject to the story time at our yearly gathering.

I always start off with her observation to me when she was about three years old:

She told me "Your cat's butt hole is sticky."

My response was "And how do we know this?"

She then proceeds to show me her finger and press it to my nose.

That is when I bring up that she should have been a veterinarian.

Side note Canadians will know what's up. Kraft Dinner kept my entire generation alive during university/college because you could buy 5 boxes for like $1.49...

Like 8 years ago we were supposed to travel to relatives on Christmas Day for Christmas Dinner and we had a huge snowstorm and couldn't go.

The only thing we had in the house to eat was a box of (what we then deemed "emergency") Kraft Dinner.

Well this is a #ChristmasTradition in my house anyway - #SausageRolls 😊
