The first #wildflowers I've discovered this year on #ClearCreekTrail in #Coralville, Iowa. My ID app suggests that they are Anemone hepatica, aka liverwort aka kidneywort aka pennywort & I tend to agree. This would be a new species for me. I think they're gorgeous and I may see if I can't add this species to my #garden at some point.

This was taken on #ClearCreekTrail in '21 about 6 months after I purchased my 1st DSLR. Was very fortunate that this white-tailed doe seemed curious as to what I was up to & lingered long enough for me to take tons of pics. This is one of few that turned out & despite its flaws it's one of my favorite photos not simply b/c of the content but because of the memories it evokes.

Purple asters aka New England asters aka Michaelmas daisies (Symphyotrichum) are often found in gardens where I live but they are also a native #wildflower here in Ioway. These particular asters were growing along a section of nearby #ClearCreekTrail that appears infrequently visited so I thought of them as nice treat that nature had placed there just for me to enjoy😉.

The #sky was pretty amazing late yesterday afternoon so I decided to head over to the trail to catch the #sunset . Was looking great but then things petered out the last 15 minutes as the #sun went down😭 . There were some lovely embers at the very end though.
