#ClĂdna of the Fair Hair was courted by #CiabhĂĄn from #Ireland, who won her hand in her homeland of TĂr Tairngiri, the Land of Promise.
`When it was time for CiabhĂĄn to depart from the #Otherworld, the lovers couldnât bear to be parted, and stole ManannĂĄnâs magical boat, the Wave Sweeper. Back at Glandore (âgolden harborâ), #ClĂdna fell asleep after their long sea voyage, and CiabhĂĄn went hunting for a deer to provide their supper.

`The #fairy #ClĂdna is connected with several important #Irish families. She had affairs with Earl Gerald Fitzgerald of the Desmond Geraldines (son of the fairy queen #Ăine) and with Caomh, ancestor of the OâKeeffes. ClĂdna served as Banshee to the MacCarthys, to whom she told the secret of the Blarney Stone, that touching it with the lips would make anyone eloquentâa superstition that lasts to this day. Her connection with nobility suggests that ClĂdna was goddess of the sovereignty of sea-lapped #Munster.`

`#ClĂdna of the Fair Hair was courted by CiabhĂĄn, who won her hand in her homeland of TĂr Tairngiri, the Land of Promise. Unlike most mortal lovers of #fairy women, CiabhĂĄn traveled back and forth between this world and the #Otherworld safely. While he went hunting on the Irish mainland, he took ClĂdna along to Glandore (âgolden harborâ). ClĂdnaâs lover went ashore as she stole a nap in their boat. But a huge wave crashed over the boat, drowning the beautiful ClĂdna.
Despite this report of her watery demise, #ClĂdna managed to live on to have more romantic adventures. She fell in love with a man named John Fitzjames, who already had a human lover named Caitileen Ăg. This girl followed ClĂdna into the #Otherworld, angrily demanding the return of her man. Although she came close to persuading ClĂdna to let her sweetheart go, even the witty tongue of Caitileen Ăg was ultimately ineffective against ClĂdnaâs desires.`
