Memories: When I was in Virginia a decade ago, I found my grandfather’s old Coal Miner’s Certificate - given to him back in 1947 - from the state of West Virginia’s Department of Mines. I’m guessing they had to go through some basic safety classes and maybe some training on how to operate some of the equipment they’d be using. ~ Saturday, February 16th, 2013.
