I'm guessing #ChristopherNolan has seen #ComeAndSee because that hidden scream during the celebration is very much like the #SoundDesign of the scene in the forest when #Glasha and #Flyora get surprised by the #artillery attack.

The scream in #Oppenheimer prepared me for what came next, and that whole sequence was the most emotional part of the #movie, for me.

It's a massive #film that is also deeply personal and intimate.

So I finally finished watching Come and See. This quote (see next toot), from a review in the LA Times, captures the experience of watching it perfectly. Fortunately I watched it on my laptop so I could turn it off when it got too much...

It covers a lot and must have been overwhelming to many audiences at the time.

I could have done without a lot that's in the opening, including learning a new racist slur as a term for coffee (in German, and hard "r").

Like with #ShanghaiExpress earlier today, so many older films are blatantly and uncaringly racist, misogynistic, homophobic; just bad in so many ways.
