Ruth Smith, professor and Graceland College and the wife of Fred M Smith, 3rd prophet of Community of Christ and Joseph Smith Jr. grandson, was very feminist. Love that for her and her family.
she went up to JSIII (2nd prophet, Fred M's Dad) who was officiant of their (surprise) wedding and was like "promise to not ask me to obey in our wedding vows."
JSIII was like "dw. i wasn't going to do that."
love that for both of them.

God has called women to discipleship as long as God has called men.
even though women are not given their due in scriptural texts, there is still plenty of evidence of God calling women to what we would consider priesthood roles.
New Testament ex.:
Mary Magdalene was a special witness of Christ and spread the Good News. Essentially, she was a Seventy (in #CommunityOfChrist context)
Mary, mother of Jesus, is an Apostle. The Apostle to the Apostles.
God calls on women and always has.
i'm starting to get that coffee is slightly edgy humor among #CommunityOfChrist members. i love it despite being a coffee/caffiene procautionist (disability-health stuff)
the main CoC adjacent #podcast platform called
Project Zion: The Restoration Caffeinated
and the logo is the temple as a coffee stain and most of the podcast series have #coffee based names. like
"nu'brew"
"coffee to go"
"cuppa joe"
"what's brewing"
"fair trade"
etc.

a theologian from #CommunityOfChrist , Anthony Chvala-Smith, recently updated our Basic Beliefs document.
idk if that is exactly what you are looking for but it talks about our theology surrounding different biblical/scriptural topics. it's written in a more layman sort of way.
can be downloaded for free here:
i want to share with you #CommunityOfChrist 's Children's mission prayer. i think its a beautiful prayer that really gets at what it means to be a disciple of Christ.
"God,
What are you doing today?
Maybe I can help!
Make me strong like a lion,
Gentle like a lamb,
Caring and brave,
To fill the world with your love and peace.
Amen"
if it does touch your heart, i invite you to join me in offering it up to God. i invite you to pray with me, separately but together 🫂

the #CommunityOfChrist monogamy requirement debate has reached my local congregation. which is away from the more progressive mission centers/stakes in north america.
the priesthood member giving the sermon, a southern white woman in her mid to late 60s, asked the congregation to be open minded about those from different cultures who may be non-monogamous.
while she doesn't seem to understand the polyamory and polygamy are not synonyms. she supports nontypical families.

"From every man according to his capacity and to every man according to his needs,” has, I think, been accepted as expressing in sloganized form the objective of our social reform based on Christian fraternity. It might be necessary to add that surplus must be placed for the benefit and blessing of the group." - Prophet-President Frederick M. Smith of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints

one of my favorite hymns in the #CommunityOfChrist Sings hymnal is "Creator of the Intertwined". it really speaks to our principle of Unity in Diversity.
i like all the verses but will select one to share:
"from different sources comfort comes.
each seeks for the Divine.
your Voice speaks many languages
just one of them is mine."

i think many progressive theists would enjoy it and most #mormon individuals would recognize the tune.
interesting #CommunityOfChrist discourse.
so the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints was pretty strongly anti-polygamy, bc Emma Hale Smith Bidamon wasn't having that at all. #Mormon polygamy as it was/is practiced is often abusive. so i think it was a good thing for Emma and Joseph Smith III to prohibit in the 1800s
this, however, is now being questioned due to how the anti-polygamy stance hurts polyamorous members. so some of the young people are pushing back against it
i just finished my scripture study lesson!
the scripture is 1 Corinthians 3:1-9 and I supported it with Alma 16:170 (LDS Alma 32:41) and D&C 50:8e (LDS D&C 50:40)
lmk if anyone is interested in checking it out. It's focused on Spiritual Growth.

i convinced a church leader on the significance of #CommunityOfChrist doctrine and covenants 116!
i am working on my article now. it's going to be historically backed but also faith promoting. i think that is the best way to be convincing. made a lot of headway today and am very encouraged.

if i get to the celestial kingdom, i am really looking forward to meeting and having a chat with the second prophet of the restoration (RLDS, CoC) Joseph Smith III. (making so many assumptions here)
He served as Justice of the Peace in his town of Nauvoo, IL. He was favored by his constituents and was re-elected. This is significant bc he had to overcome the stigma that came with the name Joesph Smith.

i got the opinion of 2 Black members of #CommunityofChrist
all 3 of us believe that Coc Doctrine and Covenants116 should not he moved to an index.
i feel strongly about this bc i believe that God communicated with the Prophet to inspire him to write that revelation. not only that but it a revelation that shows an attempt at the value of persons we proffess. worth of all persons
i will collect more opinions & testimonies from Black Saints in #CofChrist and compile them

#CommunityOfChrist has a verse that is different than the other #Mormon #LDS version of "Spirt of God" and its the verse that is the most significant for me.
"How blessed the day when the lamb and the lion shall lie down together in peace with a child.
With one heart and mind may the Lord call us Zion, a people of justice by God's love inspired!"

continuing my reading of Invisible Saints: A History of Black Americans in the Reorganized Church.
The book was published in 1988 so it's interesting to see how some of the aspirations for racial justice have fruits i see in 2022.
some of the same issues are still present in the church as well, of course. it's very interesting to read from the future.

now going through a presentation on Race and the Priesthood in #CommunityOfChrist specifically.
there was never a ban but i know there were challenges. it seems the prompting of the revelation confiming Black priesthood was the end of the Civil War. There weren't many Black people involved in the early Reorganization, but i think my next book will give more context.

introducing my #CommunityOfChrist friends to mastodon.
i would love it if there was a bigger restorationist presence on here.
