Rehearsal tonight, rehearsal tomorrow, #BrassBand contest on Sunday!
Actually, I am more anxious about the parking than the actual contest at this point.
It's OK for the smaller instruments. Lugging around a tuba (without knocking people or vehicles) with a stage jacket, day bag, etc, is hard enough. This time, I have to carry a mute as well (which is basically a slightly undersized traffic cone). I don't have the best spacial awareness at the best of times.
So if you're in #Corby on Sunday & see a red head carrying a dinosaur bag (it literally looks like a stuffed toy dino) & with a massive tuba on their back (apparently we look like snails), you have been warned

Some of the least known #Postindustrialwoodland & #Industrialarchaeology that is hidden by pinewoods are the huge furrows left by WWII ironstone mining at #Corby in #Northamptonshire. Under pressure to extract as much ore as possible to feed the war effort government allowed Stewarts & Lloyds to leave the pits unrestored, leaving huge furrows across the land, which I can remember seeing. From 1960 these furrows were planted with trees. These furrows are near Stanion.
