Hey #DeafMastodon , do any of you have any recommended resources on learning American Sign Language? (#ASL 🇺🇸)

As an user of #CochlearImplants in my early childhood, I've never had the opportunity to learn well any kind of sign language, and honestly I think it would help me so much at least in US communicating areas.

(Recommendations for Argentine sign language are OK too! It would help me more. #Argentina 🇦🇷)

Got new hearing aids today, the first new pair in 7 years.

I can hear all the things!

The advancement in technology is truly astounding. My new hearing aids can stream audio from my Android, including phone calls. It's almost like I'm not deaf.

And thanks to Costco prices, I didn't have to sell small tracts of land to afford these.

I have a question for #DeafMastodon I'm a playwright. A producer is trying to cast a hearing terp in a role because it's specifically a "terp character", so they think it doesn't matter if we cast a Deaf actor. I am trying 6 ways to Sunday to explain to them why this is Not acceptable, that all ASL performance should be cast with Deaf performers, etc., but they are not listening. Does anyone have an article or other resource By a Deaf author I could send them? #Deaf #theater #representation
