Ashford Mill, a ghost town on the floor of Death Valley, California at 121 feet (37 m) below sea level. Ruins of a settlement where they processed ore from an also now defunct gold mine in those mountains along the horizon. Water had to be carted in.

The Road To Titus Canyon

The Road To Titus Canyon is a photograph that I captured, you guessed it, on the road to Titus Canyon.
As seen in this photograph the road at this point is fairly mild. What I wasn't expecting is the beauty of the surrounding area.

Mesquite Dunes

Not far from Stovepipe Wells is Mesquite Flat Dunes. One of 5 sand dunes in Death Valley and the most accessible. The sand in these dunes is some of the finest sand that Because of this the hike can be strenuous.
I wasn't going to stop this time through the park but I was mesmerized by the quality of the light that was shinning on them. Zabriskie Point II

After catching an early dinner down in Stovetop Wells I drove a short distance out to Zabriskie Point.
The sun was low in the sky and I found the hiker/photographer silhouettes at the tip of the point.
Millions of years of geological history can be seen in the various layers of rock tilted up by earthquake activity. Mesquite Dunes II

Mesquite Dunes is the largest and most accessible sand dune in Death Valley. Located just east of Stovepipe Wells.
The round trip hike out to the largest dune (pictured here) is a 2 mile out and back and takes about an hour and a half walking in sand and seems to be twice as far as it actually is because of this.
