Low rollout of #SmartMeters will constitute a big hurdle to intergrating increasing amounts of weather-dependent renewables in Germany. #DemandSideManagement will be difficult.

The fokus should now be on quick solutions that work, like #energyEfficiency, #insulation and #heatRecovery in existing building stock, and automation for #DemandSideManagement. Thermal #SeasonalStorage and bidirectional low-temperature #DistrictHeating should also be expedited. #Biogas has plenty potential still unused. #SolarEnergy both PV and thermal, will provide cheap energy March-October.
