Very slowly working through my backlog of the past several weeks worth of birding trips --

I love the Eastern Bluebird's combo of bright blue and burnt red-orange. Even though the plumage is less visible, I think I like the one with the utility pole in frame best.

Finally got to photograph a pair of Eastern Bluebirds recently. The nature preserve had a perfect trail for catching species that like to hang out in trees near large clearings

Whoops.

Here's a photo of an eastern bluebird that I took a couple mornings ago. The ISO was way too high because I had been taking pictures the day before a dusk. An error I often make when I first grab my camera in the morning. Call me crazy though, because I like this photo and another that I looked at as well. It has kind of an artsy look. I'd like to say I did this on purpose, but I didn't.

It must be tradition.

Here's an Eastern Bluebird, perched in its traditional habitat. It must be tradition because I see a lot of bluebirds, and this is the only place that I see them. Be that as it may (I love saying that it sounds so pin stripped suit gangster), this is not a bad photograph of a bluebird.

I plan to put in a nest box, but it will be a while because I have other "yard things" that I want to do.

And another Bluebird photo, but I feel like there can never be too many. Today, the male visited the box a lot, checking to see if things are ok, and the female seems to have checked to see if she likes the atmo in the area. She also came to the feeders and I just loved her little furrowed brow. Come good into Friday!⁠

The Bluebirds also came over today. This year’s couple is gonna be Johnny and June. The male was around more frequently in the last couple of weeks but the female has started to come around more too. I am expecting her to start nest building soon but I also hope she takes her time because winter is not over yet.⁠

I'm still trying ...

This pretty Eastern bluebird was on the powerline across the road from my front yard. That is where we usually end our morning walk. I've been trying to lure these birds into my backyard where they might perch in the trees. So far, I haven't seen any there or seen any evidence that they've been there.

In the last couple of days, the #Bluebirds have been back to check out the nestbox. I have taken out the "winter padding" of pine needles the other day and just left a tiny layer along with some dried wood crumbs. I do think nesting season has still some time to go, we are expecing colder temps again, but it was so lovely to see them do their thing. Last year, she started building on March 1.

Okay, I know this sounds crazy. If I hadn't witnessed it, I'd think it was crazy, too. But half a dozen eastern blue birds just flew to my bird feeders.

Blue birds. In February. In New Hampshire (USA).

A sign of spring, or climate change? Perhaps both, but either way a welcome sight! 💙

Eastern Bluebird.

Here is fierce looking bluebird. Bugs are shaking in fear with this bird around. For some reason, I only see these birds on power wires. I'm attempting to lure them into my backyard. I put up a bird bath and put out a few meal worms. Perhaps I need a different feeder for the meal worms. Right not I set them into an old, galvanized cage that somebody gave to me.
