We have a boat - it is us, We, the People.

When it comes to the - It is not hopeless & we, the people are not helpless! If we take individual action now - without asking anyone! theguardian.com/commentisfree/

IMO, it’s up to us – WE,THE PEOPLE, to save planet Earth by becoming thinkhousehq.com/features/clim who actively mitigate global warming by our daily choices of: who we donate to, vote for, invest/divest/bank in; what we buy, eat, drive/pedal; to switch from gas to electric; to reduce, reuse, recycle; & consume less. news.climate.columbia.edu/2018

In the film: “Wake Up, Freak Out – then Get a Grip” youtube.com/watch?v=VnyLIRCPaj tells us that “preventing run-away Global Warming is the single most important task in all of human history - and it is up to us to do it. If we don’t then everything else we have achieved in our lives will become meaningless”!

The United nation says: “Everyone can help limit climate change. From the way we travel, to the electricity we use, the food we eat, and the things we buy, we can make a difference.” un.org/en/actnow/ten-actions

Greta Thunberg says - “Politicians are not coming to the rescue of planet Earth” newstatesman.com/environment/2 & “Saving the world is voluntary…we need billions of activists” theguardian.com/environment/20

Robert Reich @rbreich Says “A handful of billionaires now have unprecedented control over banking, the food we eat, the health care we can access and, now, the information we receive…” youtube.com/watch?v=Y_sjfchNsi But, these Oligarchs got rich by convincing us to buy products that we don’t actually need & that are harmful to our planet. So, stop buying those products!

William Stanley Jevons said: “Value is created by the consumer, not the producer… the consumer is the ‘ultimate regulator of demand’” - theatlantic.com/business/archi So people - stop demanding!

DR. SAILESH RAO position paper climatehealers.org/the-science says: “...animal agriculture is the leading cause of climate change, responsible for at least 87% of annual GHGs.”

It's not just the fossil fuel industry driving the Methane crisis!

What can we, the people individually do to reduce Methane emissions? methaneaction.org/declaration- says: ~30% of CH4 emissions come from Animal Agriculture (AAg) & could be virtually eliminated if we ate a basically plant-based diet!

Cornell’s Bob Howarth says: “Reducing methane now can provide an instant way to slow global warming ...” news.cornell.edu/stories/2019/

climatehealers.org/the-science says: “that the methane emissions from AAg alone cause more incremental global warming than the CO2 emissions from all FF sources combined.” & pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/345652 says livestock CH4 emissions are projected to grow another 30% by 2050 under current policies!

So, , or may be the biggest thing individuals can do to reduce Methane emissions & improve their health eatforum.org/eat-lancet-commis

It's interesting that researchers for this 'Doom Loop' completely ignore Animal Agriculture & the fact that it's elimination is can be achieved by most of us just choosing a different diet.

Your post - "World food costs have hit a record high and are destabilising societies around the globe.
What can be done to curb global food price rises?" is a great reminder of this crisis.

And yet there is no mention of food in Mike Hudema's list when the article he references theguardian.com/environment/20 says … This will include “demand management”, or reducing our consumption and demand for energy-intensive goods. Dietary changes, especially eating less meat, will be needed to reduce methane in particular...

IMHO the blindingly obvious truth is that earth cannot support 70B+ farmed animals ‘annually’ & we can end Animal Ag by Eating Plant Based or Eating Vegan or choosing the EAT Lancet global diet!
