A good UBI (universal basic income) of say $500/person, per month, plus a housing stipend for heads of households, on top of whatever other aid and support is currently offered, and a true UBI (for everyone, not just the poor) would greatly enrich our entire nation, in fact a global UBI would be even better). Poverty is a choice for modern society. the wealthy choose to force the majority to live in or near poverty, even though it actually costs the rich as well as the poor.
