I believe solar devices should run from instead of batteries because they can be recharged endlessly and have a much larger temperature range. These days you can buy a 250F 3.8V lithium ion capacitor for less than 6$. I am selling kits with a 2V 160mA solar panel, a highly efficient solar board, a breadboard and a 250F LIC on tindie.com/products/jaspersikk

Hi @jrsikken - any known setup for a / solution to power a device needing 4 - 6V power supply? Does it make sense to use 2 sets with AEM10941 and simply serialize 3.3V and 1.8V ? As the device is a little bigger I might find the space for 2 small solar cells ...

Ordered a new batch of boards based on E-peas AEM10941 PMIC that store their energy in a lithium ion capacitor. The board has a MAX77827 3.3V/750mA buckbooster integrated to supply enough current for NB-IoT LTE-M Wi-Fi LoRa and BLE. In a bout 6 weeks I will have them on sale on tindie.com/products/jaspersikk

Nice! On January 28 and 29 there is a two days citizen science event in my hometown . Maybe I can do a talk about solar or do a soldering workshop with a project enclosure, solar panel, tp4056 charging circuit and a li-ion battery.

Interesting energy harvesting innovation -- adding a layer of Scotch tape to a triboelectric generator increases performance. Walking with such generators in shoes could provide power for devices (this idea is very old but the increased performance is a step forward, no pun intended). This work is supported by U.S. Army SBIR funding.
