The disappearance and presumed death of lyricist-guitarist Richey Edwards might have ended a lesser band, but the Manics bounced back with this disc whose exuberance belies the grief of its making. “Design for Life” couches its political message in an anthemic chorus, while Edwards’ spirit remains in the lyrics to “Elvis Impersonator…” and “Kevin Carter.” Not a bad song on it. #Albums, #Music, #1990s, #Reviews, #Rock, #Britpop
