"Could bird flu in mink signal threat of a human pandemic? A bird flu outbreak on a Spanish mink farm is alarming scientists. The virus may be spreading for the first time from mammal to mammal — and could become a danger for humans."

Another in the making? Just because some people think they need fur coats?

Life on earth. A reminder: “Livestock accounts for more biomass than all humans on Earth; more than 50% greater than humans. And livestock accounts for much more than all wildlife: Wild mammals and birds collectively account for only 0.38% — livestock therefore outweighs wild mammals and birds by a factor of ten.” 😩

Another uninformed statement from the article:

“If all humans were herbivores then there would be no need to raise animals for meat. That would mean we’d only ever see cows, sheep, chickens and pigs at the zoo.” – That’s right, no need to raise and kill animals for meat. But there are lots of other ways of sharing the planet with these animals. For example, animal sanctuaries. Also, farmed animals could become companion animals (though not in the numbers like today).

Shame on you, @theconversationau
