They say that if the Dems promise bold action - protecting abortion, controlling assault weapons, funding infrastructure, raising the minimum wage, providing health care - they will lose elections. When Dems *do* win elections, they insist that none of these things are possible: the #SupremeCourt will strike them down, or the GOP will #filibuster them, or the business lobby will subvert them.

One of the most powerful tools that a politician has is the ability to hold-up important confirmations to promote his own political agenda. By delaying or blocking the approval of nominees for key positions, a politician can exert pressure on the administration and influence the direction of policy. This can be seen as a way of advancing the interests of their constituents, or as a way of obstructing the progress of the government. Either way, it is a demonstration of the influence and leverage that a politician can wield in a complex system.

When a filibuster used to be a filibuster! Senators had to actually hold the floor by speaking 24/7.
Tv used to show aides bringing cots into the chamber (for sleeping)—if I recall filibusters required a real team effort by the filibusterers.
Now a Senator just sez i filibuster this & the other 99 Senators say “oh, okay, you win!” Candy-asses!!!

While it's definitely naive and misleading to say "Democrat = good," it's just as misleading to say all Democrats are just like Republicans.
